If you've lived in Dubai through a single shamal, you already know what happens to a carpet. The fine sand finds its way in through balcony doors and window gaps, settles deep into the pile, and no amount of weekend vacuuming pulls it back out. The carpet starts to feel flat. The colours dull. And somewhere under your feet, all that grit is grinding away at the fibres every time you walk across it.

That's the part most people don't see. Carpet cleaning in Dubai isn't really about the surface you can see; it's about everything that's worked its way underneath. We're WashOn, a Dubai laundry and garment-care service, and the most common thing we hear from customers is that they didn't realise how much their carpet was holding until they saw the water after a wash.

Here's how our carpet and rug cleaning works, what it costs, and how to tell when yours is overdue.

The short version:

  • We collect your carpets and rugs from your door, clean them at our Dubai facility, and deliver them back, fresh and dry.
  • Pickup and delivery are free, and you get a confirmed price before we start.
  • Steam cleaning for deep sanitising, shampoo cleaning for stains and odour. We choose based on your carpet.
  • Persian, silk and handmade rugs are hand-cleaned, not machine-washed.
  • You can add sofa and curtain cleaning to the same pickup.

How much does carpet cleaning in Dubai cost?

Carpet cleaning in Dubai is almost always priced one of two ways: per square metre, or a flat rate per carpet. The method matters too, because steam and shampoo cleaning aren't priced the same.

Here's roughly where the market sits, based on published rates from cleaning companies across the city:

What you're paying forTypical Dubai price
Shampoo cleaning (per m²)AED 15–20
Steam cleaning (per m²)AED 20–25
Small to medium carpet (flat)AED 75–150
Large or fitted carpetAED 175+
Handmade / silk rugAED 25–40 per m²

Market rates from published prices of Dubai carpet-cleaning providers, May 2026. Always confirm a quote for your specific carpet.

WashOn carpet cleaning starts at AED 8, and pickup and delivery are included rather than added on at the end. You can see our full laundry and cleaning pricing for the rest of the range. The reason we can quote a real number before we start, instead of a vague “from AED X,” is that we see the carpet at collection. Size, material and how soiled it is all change the price, so we confirm it up front. No surprise charges when we deliver.

Steam cleaning or shampoo cleaning: which does your carpet need?

People ask for one or the other by name. Which one you actually need depends on the carpet and the problem.

Steam cleaning uses hot water extraction to push heat deep into the fibres and pull it back out with the loosened dirt. It's the better choice for sanitising, for killing dust mites and bacteria, and for carpets that are more grimy than stained. Shampoo cleaning works a detergent into the pile to lift stubborn stains and smells, then extracts the residue. It's the one you want when there's a specific mark or odour you're trying to get rid of.

For most Dubai homes dealing with general dust build-up, steam does the job. For a living-room rug that's taken a coffee spill or a pet accident, shampoo usually wins. When you book, tell us what you're dealing with and we'll match the method to it.

What changes the price

Four things move the number more than anything else. The size of the carpet, measured in square metres. The material, since a handmade silk rug takes hand-cleaning and far more time than a synthetic one. The level of soiling, because a carpet that hasn't been cleaned in three years needs more than a routine refresh. And any extras like stain protection or deodorising. That's it. There's no mystery to it, which is why we'd rather show you the price than make you guess.

The carpets and rugs we clean

Not every carpet should be cleaned the same way, and getting that wrong is how dyes bleed and fibres mat. We sort each piece before anything touches water.

Persian, Turkish and handmade silk rugs

These are the ones that keep us careful. Hand-knotted Persian and Turkish rugs, silk pieces, Kashmiri and wool-blend rugs all get hand-cleaning with milder, fabric-safe detergents and controlled drying, so the colours stay put and the foundation doesn't weaken. If you own a rug that cost real money or came with the family, this is the category it belongs in, and it never goes through a standard machine process.

Wool, synthetic and machine-made carpets

Most carpets in Dubai apartments and villas fall here, and they're more forgiving. Wool and synthetic carpets handle steam or shampoo cleaning well and dry faster, which is why turnaround on these is usually quicker. They still need proper extraction, though, because synthetic pile is very good at hiding sand.

Majlis, bedroom and office carpets

Big majlis carpets and office floor coverings take the heaviest foot traffic, so they collect the most. These are the carpets that benefit most from a regular schedule rather than a once-in-a-while deep clean, and they're often the ones people forget about until guests are coming.

How our pickup, clean and delivery works

This is where we work differently from most carpet cleaners in Dubai. Almost everyone else sends a crew to your home, cleans the carpet on the floor, and leaves it to dry in your living room for hours. We collect it instead. Here's the flow.

First, you book a pickup slot through the WashOn app, the website or WhatsApp. Pick a time that works; we cover evenings too.

Second, our team arrives and collects your carpets and rugs. You only need to clear what's on top of them. We handle the lifting and rolling.

Third, the carpet comes back to our facility, where it's inspected, pre-treated for any stains, then steam or shampoo cleaned depending on what it needs. Doing this at a proper facility, rather than on your floor, means stronger extraction and controlled drying, which is how a carpet comes back actually dry instead of damp. A synthetic carpet might be ready the next day; a thick wool or handmade rug can need two or three days to dry through. Rushing that step is exactly how a carpet ends up smelling musty instead of clean, which is the one thing we won't do.

Fourth, we deliver it back to your door, fresh and ready to lay down. We'll give you the return date at pickup so you're not left guessing.

For a busy household, the appeal is simple: your living room isn't out of action for half a day, and you're not stepping around a wet carpet. Book our carpet cleaning service in Dubai and let us handle the rest.

Can you clean carpets yourself?

You can keep a carpet ticking over at home. Regular vacuuming and spot-treating spills do help, and you should keep doing both. But there's a ceiling to what that gets you in Dubai specifically.

The problem is the sand. Fine desert dust doesn't sit on top of the pile where a vacuum can grab it; it sifts down to the base and binds in. Add the humidity, and you get the conditions dust mites and odour love. A home vacuum, even a good one, doesn't generate the suction to extract grit from the bottom of a thick carpet, and a rented machine without the right technique can leave the carpet soaked, which causes its own problems. Professional extraction reaches what you can't. So clean at home between washes, yes, but a deep clean a couple of times a year is what actually protects the carpet.

How often should you clean carpets in Dubai?

For a typical home, every six to twelve months. For high-traffic rooms, homes with children or pets, or anyone who's just been through a dusty stretch of the year, every three to four months is closer to right.

Dubai is the reason those numbers are tighter than the advice you'll read from a UK or US site. More dust in the air means more in your carpet, faster. If you can see a difference in colour between the carpet under the sofa and the carpet out in the open, it's overdue.

Areas we collect from across Dubai

Because we collect and deliver, you don't need a carpet cleaner “near me” so much as one that comes to you. WashOn picks up across Dubai, including Business Bay, Al Quoz, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Barsha, Discovery Gardens and Al Jaddaf, and more. If you're in a tower, a villa or a holiday let, the process is the same: we come to the door.

Add curtain and sofa cleaning to the same pickup

Carpets are rarely the only soft furnishing collecting Dubai dust. The same fibres that trap grit in your carpet are doing it in your sofa and your curtains too, and curtains in particular quietly affect the air you breathe indoors. Since our team is already at your door, you can bundle all three into one collection and save yourself a second appointment. Plenty of customers do a full soft-furnishing refresh in a single pickup before Ramadan or before guests arrive.

Why people choose WashOn

We're a Dubai business with a single modern facility and an in-house team, not a booking middleman that forwards your job to whoever's free. That matters for carpets, because the same trained people handle your piece from collection to delivery, and there's one company accountable if something isn't right.

The rest is the stuff that makes it easy: free pickup and delivery, a confirmed price before we start, booking through the app or WhatsApp, and a 4.9-star Google rating from customers across the city. You can read more about our facility and team, or just book a pickup and see the difference in the first wash.

When your carpet's been holding a season of Dubai dust, the change after a proper clean is hard to miss. Schedule a pickup and we'll take it from your door.

FAQ: carpet and rug cleaning in Dubai

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Dubai?

Most carpet cleaning here is priced per square metre or per carpet. Market rates run from about AED 15 per m² for shampoo cleaning to AED 25 for steam, and many companies set a minimum of AED 75 to AED 100 per visit. WashOn carpet cleaning starts at AED 8 with free pickup and delivery, and you get a confirmed price before any work begins.

Can I clean my carpets myself?

You can surface-clean with a vacuum and spot treatment, and you should between washes. But Dubai's fine sand settles deep into the pile where a home vacuum can't reach. Professional steam or shampoo extraction removes that embedded grit, dust mites and odour, which home methods rarely manage.

How often should carpets be cleaned in Dubai?

Every six to twelve months for a normal home, and every three to four months for high-traffic rooms or homes with kids and pets. Dubai's dust load means carpets here need cleaning more often than in cooler, less dusty climates.

Do you clean Persian and handmade silk rugs?

Yes. Handmade, silk and Persian rugs are hand-cleaned with gentler, fabric-safe detergents and controlled drying to protect the dyes and fibres. They never go through the standard machine process.

Do I need to move my furniture before pickup?

No. Since we collect the carpet and clean it at our facility, you only need to clear what's sitting on top of it. Our team handles lifting and rolling at pickup.

How long does carpet cleaning take?

Usually a few days, depending on size, material and how heavily soiled the carpet is. Thick or handmade rugs need longer controlled drying, so we'll give you a return date when we collect.
